Hello and welcome!

My name is Ben Buechel. I’ve been building my business meticulously since 2021, much like a busy bee.

I have studied photography from a young age. Learning how to use a light meter the “old fashioned way.” Then having early success in high school, with some of my work being selected to be put on display. I’m lucky to have had many wonderful teachers throughout my lifetime.

I currently shoot an old Olympus Digital SLR. In the right hands, it’s a powerful camera that produces beautiful and vivid images. The original model had a sensor designed right here in Rochester by Kodak. I enjoy the challenge of using this camera, with its mostly manual settings, and zero Artificial Intelligence. I also have a variety of lenses, from 18mm to 300mm, and small to big lights.

I believe in limiting editing done in Photoshop. It’s perfectly fine for photographers to correct their images, much like you can dodge and burn in a darkroom. However, I try to get it right the first time, at exposure!

I love photographing wildlife. I find it especially rewarding when I capture an auspicious event in nature. Likewise, I also love doing portraits! If I can make you happy with the way you look, I’ll be happy! So I will check in to make sure you are comfortable with the kind of shots we are getting. I’m flexible, and I don’t cost a lot. I do photography because I love it, not to become wealthy from it.
